1946
Assigned to assist Ozzie Gates in football and basketball, head track coach.

1947
Dr. Paul Stagg hired, replacing Gates. Dr. Stagg appointed me the first assistant in football, alumni coordinator, head track and field coach, & head basketball coach. The next nine years under Dr. Stagg were very successful. My assignment as line coach was very rewarding. with the war ending many of our top athletes entered Pacific on a veteran scholarship. I was the top recruiter and game scout of our future games. Dr. Stagg reveived the offer to be the area scout for the Baltimore Colts, the NFL Champions. He turned it down and asked me if I was interested. "Would I," I scouted for 15 years sending them 6 top candidates only one failed and he was picked up by the Cleveland Browns where he made All Pro. R.C. Owens of the College of Idaho finished his career with Baltimore.

My career under coach Stagg was very rewarding. As alumni coordinator, I helped some get head coaching jobs where many of our alumns enjoyed success introducing the Pacific University system of play. The spread formation with P dinger men in motion was new to the West Coast. No one enjoyed the success of Stagg football more than Frank Buckewiez while coach at Seaside H. S.

The participation of Amos Alonzo Stagg, Paul's father, was a memory they will never forget.
