Adam Hat Trophy Wins Approval

Admiring the Adam Hat Sports Welfare trophy which will be awarded to the outstanding athlete of Pacific University are Harve Roloff, assistant coach, John Chambers, student body president, Marjorie MacDonald, freshman, Bill Grogan, junior, and Ozzie Gates, athletic director.
The outstanding athlete will be determined by the students' votes and ballots will be distributed to the students sometime in the near future. Standards for selection are as follows: enthusiasm, good sportsmanship, team spirit and cooperation, athletic ability and accomplishment.
Jack Dempsey, onetime world heavyweight boxing champion, and now the director of the Adam Hat Welfare committee, is the originator of the award. The purpose is to stimulate sports participation and create enthusiasm as an incentive to sports-minded students of the university.
