Baseball With eight returning lettermen from last year's Badger squad, Coach Pete Miller began early workouts confident that he would be able to build an even stronger and better balanced attack in his 1941 baseball nine. Those returning were: Frosty Loghry, second baseman; Harlan McCurdy and Harvey Roloff, pitchers; Johnny Lake, switched from third base to the outfield; George Risk, shortstop; Stan Slyter, centerfield; Earl Gipe, first baseman; and Cooney Anderson, catcher. The coach was very fortunate in having a large number of recruits from which to round out his team. Chet Day, Seattle freshman, served as understudy to Cooney Anderson. Dick Overturf and Wayne Haller alternated at third base, with Overturf seeing some outfield duty. Norman Bergstrom also held down an outfield position. 1941 PU "Heart of Oak" yearbook
